Is Belly Dance Suitable For Me?

Bellydance is suitable for ladies of all ages, shapes, sizes, ability and fitness levels. Bellydance is fun to learn and a wonderful way to become fitter, improve your figure, and shimmy away that excess weight.

What you can expect to Learn

This course is suitable for adults of all ages and all levels of ability and is designed for those with little or no experience in Belly dance so you will benefit from it whether you were on our previous 12 week course or not.

We will take you through the basics of belly dance and beyond and our new dance for the summer term is our Gypsy Dance 1. Ever popular with all students this is a playful choreography danced in big skirts and with a group formation. It has a Spanish Arabic influence, is fun to learn and beautifully entertaining to watch.  Ask any of our previous students…this one is a real favourite! You will be learning all the movements and isolations needed to master the dance week by week so there is always plenty of repetition to enable your body to learn the moves and combinations with ease.  For those ambitious ladies there is always the opportunity to perform the dance in a group with your instructor at our quarterly Shimmy-Licious show on Friday 3rd December !

Level 1

Suitable for both absolute beginners & those with some belly dance experience.

You will also receive hands outs on the Moves, dance choreography and belly dance history

What Shall I Wear?

Belly dance is usually performed in bare feet. Come wearing something loose and comfortable, perhaps with a scarf to tie around your hips. Additional coin hip scarves are available to purchase in class at a reasonable price.

We look forward to welcoming you on this exciting journey as we learn to master this skilled and beautiful ancient art form together.

(Please note that the Colchester classes will be taught by Annelise)

We look forward to seeing you there!
